October Drink Recipe - Autumn Haze

Summer has passed and there is a chill in the air, even in San Diego! But the inspiration for this month's recipe was the many juicy, hoppy Hazy IPAs we enjoyed over the summer. I loved the hazy color which disguised the crisp, fruity mouthfeel of many of them and wanted to find a way to put a fall twist on a cocktail in honor of that new summer favorite. Nothing says fall more than the arrival of apples and fall spices, when crock pots emerge from their summer slumber and the barbecue makes way for the smells of indoor baking. This cocktail uses clear apple juice for the base, spiced rum (we use our favorite from our friends at 117 West Spirits) with PartiStartrâ„¢ and fresh lemon juice in a cinnamon-sugared rim for a cocktail that's the ideal balance of sweet and spice that will leave you feeling nice the next morning! Perfect as an aperitif or to sip alongside a hearty bowl of chili, you can stay in for the evening and have a second round with no guilt and no hangover.

Autumn Haze - makes 1 serving

6 oz. of clear apple juice
1.5 oz. spiced rum
1 packets PartiStartrâ„¢ Hangover Helper
Juice from 1/2 lemon
1/2 tsp sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon for rim
Apple slices and cinnamon sticks for garnish

Combine sugar and cinnamon on a small plate. Squeeze lemon into an ice filled shaker, rim a martini glass with lemon and roll rim into cinnamon sugar. Add rum, apple juice and PartiStartr into shaker and shake well. Pour into martini glass. Garnish with apple slice and cinnamon stick. Enjoy!
